Last week on 7th of May 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a joint Research Talk, bringing together SAP experts, TUM researchers, students, and customers to discuss the future of carbon accounting. 

The event featured presentations by Prof. Jürgen Erstberger, TUM School of Management, and Mike Szabo, Product Manager for SAP Green Ledger, SAP Labs Palo Alto.

Together, they shared insights from over three years of collaboration, discussed challenges and potential solutions in carbon reporting and carbon accounting, especially considering emerging regulations like ESRS and CBAM. A central focus was the SAP Green Ledger, SAP’s initiative to integrate sustainability data into core business processes.

The event ended with a very engaged open discussion round between all the participants and speakers.
