Database Management Systems
Project Title: Hardware-accelerated and reusable graph processing primitives
Researchers:
Tobias Götz
Motivation:
This project revolves around the research regarding the effect of new hardware architectures on database design and architecture, e.g.
- Auto-Tuning SAP HANA for Hardware Topologies. More specifically, looking at job stealing strategies in NUMA topologies.
- Storage layers (DRAM vs. NVM vs. Disk) and how data structures need to adjust to these storage technologies and when to use them. A broader context to this (beyond NUMA) would be self-driving databases.
- Researching the effect of different FPGA topics, e.g. building a library of reusable FPGA kernels or further relational operators.
Project Start: 2023
Project End: 2027 (expected)
