Monthly Minds Meet

Once a month, researchers of Technische Universität München and Oerlikon discuss the latest findings. A short research presentation keeps everyone up to date and questions are then discussed together. The special aspect here is that the different thematic groups can learn from and support each other in the various projects.

Visit of Oerlikon AM in Barleben

Last week, the TUM-Oerlikon Advanced Manufacturing Institute was hosted by Oerlikon AM. Prof. Katrin Wudy and a group of talented PhD students visited the production site in Barleben, Germany. Following a brief introduction, the General Managers, Hendrik Alfter and Marcus Giglmaier, guided the group on a comprehensive tour of the facility.

General Assembly of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute

The TUM-Oerlikon Advanced Manufacturing Institute focuses on research and development of advanced manufacturing technologies. Recently, the institute held a General Assembly where researchers came together to present their research results and share their work. There was also a tour of the laboratories of the institute.

Oerlikon moves into a new location in Garching

Oerlikon moves into a new location in Garching - under one roof with the Technical University of Munich! Oerlikon's Munich office has moved to Garching. The #OneOerlikon space is designed for a new kind of office environment, which not only provides hybrid work, but also aims to promote collaborative teamwork, inclusion and creativity.

TUM-Oerlikon Advanced Manufacturing Institute Kick-Off

On November 30th, 2022, the kick-off meeting of the TUM-Oerlikon Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) took place. The Chair of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics (Prof. Adams), the Chair of Materials Engineering of Additive Manufacturing (Prof. Mayr) and the Professorship of Laser-based Additive Manufacturing (Prof. Wudy), in collaboration with Oerlikon AM, presented all projects already underway in the cooperation.

Cutting-edge research on additive manufacturing technologies

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Swiss technology group Oerlikon are joining forces to drive progress in additive manufacturing technologies. They have founded the TUM-Oerlikon Advanced Manufacturing Institute with the objective of mastering technical challenges on the road to industrializing those technologies.
