On 02 December 2025, Prof. Ingo Weber held a talk on Engineering AI Systems. It was part of the IUC Applied Research Talks series and was co-hosted by the Predictive Town Hall Meetings.
The talk gave practical guidance on building reliable AI, contrasting narrow Machine Learning models with Foundation Models (FMs) and Large Language Models, explaining ways to adapt FMs such as prompt engineering, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, fine-tuning and distillation. It also covers the AI lifecycle and operational practices - automated testing and Continuous Integration, Machine Learning Operations, safe deployment patterns, guardrails, monitoring and recommends cross-disciplinary teams to keep systems accurate, secure and maintainable.
The talk closely followed Prof. Dr. Ingo Weber’s book, “Engineering AI Systems” which you were able to win after the talk through a quiz.
The event ended with questions from the participants and an open networking session during which participants continued discussing the presentation’s topics.
